The choirs performance at a packed Ditton Village Hall on Saturday 20th September brought a standing ovation from the audience at the close of the evening in a programme that included the Song of the Jolly Roger and Medleys from Cole Porter and Jesus Christ Superstar. The choir were ably supported by David Fisher who gave a virtuoso solo piano performance, and the ‘Eight in a Bar’ barbershop group. The event raised much needed funds for the Ditton Priors Church and was organised by former chorister Cecil Thomas who congratulated the choir for providing “an outstanding evenings entertainment”.
The choir are now busy rehearsing for a joint concert with Shifnale Chorale at Madeley Church on Saturday 18th October, tickets for this event are £6.00 and can be purchased at the door, alternatively phone 01952 929760 to book yours now.
The choir will also be performing in a joint concert with Keith Nichols at The Edge Arts Centre, Much Wenlock on Saturday 1st November. Keith is one of the best classic jazz pianists and a brilliant entertainer. He is one of the very few British musicians to play at Carnegie Hall and recording credits include three solo albums for EMI, plus a host of others for Decca, including one with Bing Crosby.
Keith has featured on more than twenty albums for the American “Stomp Off” label and has performed widely throughout the U.K, Europe and America.
