The choir was on home territory on Friday (22nd June), taking part in a joint concert with Much Wenlock Ladies Choir at the Holy Trinity Church, Much Wenlock for the Wenlock Festival. A poignant event as it was the last appearance of the Ladies Choir, who are retiring after 42 years. The choirs have often shared the stage at Festival and Social events and will be missed.
Their Musical Director Mrs Ceridwen Constantine, President and former Musical Director of the Male Voice Choir, led both choirs in combined pieces ‘Nice n Easy’ and ‘You Raise Me Up’ and a Jubilee Year tribute to the Queen with ‘Long Live Elizabeth’. Retired members of the Male Voice Choir came from the audience and joined in the choirs signature tune ‘The Working Man’. The event also saw solo performances from Thomas Johnson on Trombone (Junior Musician of the Year) and Greg Budd on Piano (Senior Musician of the Year).
A very memorable evening was concluded with floral presentations to Mrs Constantine and Mrs Rosemary Whiteford. the choirs accompanist, and the singing of the National Anthem.
