The choir travel to Oakengates this weekend (Saturday 16th May) for a concert at the United Reform Church in aid of the shoebox fillers fund for ‘Operation Christmas Child’. Last year the scheme, run by a small committee and volunteers, supplied almost nine thousand shoe boxes to children overseas, many of whom would not otherwise have received a present.
Committee member and chorister Les Pinder said “we make sure every child receives a full box and buy lots of gifts that help to put a smile on the face of a child at Christmas time”. The concert starts at 7.30pm, tickets cost £5.00 and can be bought on the door or by ringing Elaine Udakis 01952 247345 or Les Pinder on 01952 727743.
