Stretton Rotary Success

The choir gave its first concert of the season at Church Stretton School on Saturday 2nd March, with a varied programme of music including the captain’s song from “The Pirates of Penzance” (soloist Mel Bardsley), “The Sound of Silence” and “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables. The choirs accompanist, David Fisher, gave a virtuoso solo performance on piano of Chopins Polonaise No.6 and the ‘Eight in a Bar’ Barbershop group also performed, to a near capacity audience.
The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Church Stretton and raised over £600 for the Polio Plus Campaign, Hope House Children’s Hospice in Oswestry, the Air Ambulance and Severn Hospice.
Rotarian John Corfield described the concert as “a really wonderful evening of music and fun…the audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves”.
The compere, choir tenor David Strefford, kept everyone amused with jokes and anecdotes, adding to what was a very successful evening.
