Much Wenlock Choir participated in The Big Busk at Shrewsbury this Saturday (5th April 2014), when a wide range of musical talent performed in the Town Centre throughout the day, making for a unique shopping experience. The choir performed in the Market Hall and also in the Darwin Shopping Centre, where a large crowd gathered to listen.
A celebration of Community, Music and Talent, this is the second year the Big Busk has been held as a tribute to Ben Bebbington, who was tragically killed in September 2012. Known as a busker in the town Ben had a passion for music, poetry and art and it seems fitting that the event covers a whole range of musical genres, from opera and classical to contemporary and folk, as a reflection of this.
The Big Busk also raises funds for the Shrewsbury Ark, a charity that supported Ben and meant a huge amount to him, in providing support for people who are homeless or vulnerable, and helping to ensure that some of the most marginalised members of our community are not forgotten.
